Analog semiconductor designer ALD has introduced a series of MOSFETs to balance supercapacitors being used in high-voltage commercial applications. These MOSFETs regulate and balance leakage currents for each supercapacitor in a series stack of two or more cells. The MOSFETs extend supercapacitors’ life by minimizing the risk of cell damage from overvoltage. Tecate offers standard and custom ultracapacitor cells, with capacitance values from 0.5F to 400F, usable with this type of balancing scheme for a host of voltage and capacitance options.
